Lea Katherine Thompson

Thompson was born on May 31, 1961 in Rochester, Minnesota,[ one of five children of Clifford Thompson and Barbara Barry Thompson, a musician. Thompson is the sibling of Coleen Goodrich, Shannon Katona and Barry Katona. Her mother is of Irish descent.She was a ballet student as a girl and danced professionally at the age of 14, winning scholarships to the San Francisco Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre.When she turned 20 years old aged and performing professionally with American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company (then known as ABT II), the time was right to make a decision on whether she wanted to move to the company's main stage. [ Mikhail Baryshnikov, who was then the artistic director, told herthat "You're an amazing dancer but you're just too big." She described the moment as "my epiphany" when she decided to end her dancing career and become a ballet dancer. It was a wonderful moment. I could have banged my head on the wall for another 10 years. "[ She switched her attention on acting. At age 20, she relocated to New York with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elisabeth Shue and some other Burger King ads. In 1982, CareerThompson played Cecily "Sissy" who played Live-action interactive video game dubbed MysteryDisc Murder! Who? Jaws 3-D was her film debut in 1983. I claimed that I knew how to water ski. I wasn't. Then I was given, say, five days to learn extremely, very complicated water-skiing tricks, since I was required to be part of the Sea World water-skiing show. I don't even know how to swim!" She followed that with All the Right Moves (1983), Red Dawn (1984), and The Wild Life (1984).
